Objects of the study were high purified by liquid chromatography antibodies to DNA of IgG from the blood serums of healthy donors, SLE or RA patients and their clinically healthy relatives. It is shown, that depends on pathology these antibodies are distinguished by the DNA-hydrolyzing activity and differently affected on the number of viable cells, morphology and chromatin of MDCK cells after co-culture. Antibodies to DNA were located in the area of nuclei. Biological role of antibodies to DNA is discussed.

Key words:  antibodies to DNA, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, healthy relatives, MDCK
