Tissue engineering as applied to urologic pathology is covered extremely poor in the literature despite recently
gaining popularity of regenerative medicine. The review reflects the current problems associated with reconstructive
surgery of the urinary bladder, experience of the researchers from the United States in implementing
cellular technologies for bladder replacement, the problems and prospects of this direction in case of such a
severe pathology, as fibrous transformated bladder.
Key words: urinary bladder, tissue engineering, stem cells
