Using AFM technologies new data of lymphocyte cell surface's structure and properties has been obtained from the blood of patients with CLL, ALL and ALL at remission stage. It's been shown that despite the presence of immature lymphocytes in the blood flow of patients with CLL and ALL the mechanical properties and geometrical parameters of the cells are different. Lymphocytes from patients with CLL had increased volume and higher stiffness, while the cells from the blood of patients with ALL and ALL in remission had decreased stiffness that made it possible to spread the cells on the substrate, thereby the volume increased due to their reduced height and increased diameter. Determinated structural and functional peculiarities of white blood cells from patients with leukemia can be used in prognosis of the cancer progression.

Key words:  lymphoblastic leukemia,Young's modulus, surface charge, shape of the surface, atomic force microscopy
