The review summarizes current data about pathways of the signal transduction in parasitic unicellular euka-ryotes at the initial stage of the invasion and during their intracellular adaptation, growth and replication. The role of the factors that influence virulence of the unicellular parasites is reviewed. A special attention is paid to aspects of intracellular communications of the parasites and host cells.

Key words:  parasitic protozoa, signaling, immunosuppression, intracellular parasitism
