FEATURES OF STRUCTURAL ORGANIZATION OF TELOMERES IN VARIOUS KINDS OF ORGANISMS

The review considers the structure of telomeres, terminal regions of linear of linear chromosomal DNA. Features
of nucleotide organization of telomeric DNA in different species are shown. Special attention is given to
analysis of functions of separate mammal and Saccharomyces cerevisiae telomere proteins, and their role in telomere
length regulation and protection against degradation.
