Five major microtubule arrays characteristic of cell cycle in the higher plants were noticed: cortical coils, preprophase band, radial array, division spindle, and phragmoplast. The organization of microtubules into ordered arrays; their dynamics and function during plant cell division are discussed in this review.

Key words:  cytoskeleton, microtubules, division spindle, phragmoplast
